New and Noteworthy J-popIn reference to my want to totally sustain with the J-pop business, I’m planning on doing a weekly round-up of any new releases which have caught my ear. A few of these could have been coated on the weblog already, however my hope is that this can grow to be a one-stop store for anybody desirous about what’s new in J-pop.

With that in thoughts, right here’s the place you are available in: I’m one individual with one set of musical preferences, so please embed every other new J-pop tracks you’ve loved within the feedback so we are able to get a fuller spectrum every week.

*And similar to I do with my critiques, I’ll wait till full variations of songs can be found earlier than posting them on this round-up. This may principally apply to Johnny’s teams, who nonetheless restrict the vast majority of their YouTube uploads to shorter, edited variations.

2023-2024 Index

2025 Index: Dec 29 – Jan 11

Aimer – Scope

This fashion of anime monitor is so standard and oversaturated for the time being. This can be a stable instance, although.

Ako – Twilight

Her vocals are fairly subdued on this. It really works effectively for the music.

Breimen – Rolling Stone

I just like the frontman’s voice and this has a pleasant groove to it.

Charisma.com – BKLV (ft. Tomoyuki Yara x highly effective complicated)

A uncommon miss for them.

CYNHN – Nominee

I’m into the boisterous instrumental on this. The music’s a bit in all places, although.

Da-iCE – Funkeys

Gosh, I used to like this group. Nevertheless, their music has modified so much since then. I’m not a fan of this music – particularly its sillier moments.

Doberman Infinity – Take A Ticket

Respectable upbeat hip-hop. I may do with out the vocal results.

East Of Eden – Capturing Star

I wish to love this group a lot since considered one of my favourite Predia vocalists is a member and the violin is so cool, however the general sound isn’t fairly my factor. It’s objectively good, although.

Fantastics – High Of The Sport

There are elements of this I like (primarily the refrain), however I actually hate how their music has began to embrace the shout-chant fashion so standard with boy teams. Their songs not sound distinctive.

Genic – It’s Showtime (music of the week!)

A music video shall be launched tomorrow so I’ll have extra to say then, however that is simply my favourite Genic single since Taste. I like that we get to listen to them singing passionately and the funky refrain is an actual earworm.

INI – Make It Rely

INI has grow to be so standard! Sadly, the music is getting extra generic and boring. This does completely nothing for me.

Kento Nakajima – Meimu

In case you would have advised me even a 12 months in the past that I might have little interest in re-playing a solo Kento Nakajima music, I might have scoffed. But, right here we’re. That is fantastic.

Leo Ieiri -Ame Kaze Sora Niji

The symphonic parts give this a ton of drama. I actually respect that anthemic sound.

Mayu Maeshima – True Peak

Not my factor, however I respect the explosive rock vitality.

Queen Bee – Headless Angel (music of the week!)

Avu-chan has formally resumed actions with Queen Bee and a brand new album is slated for an early March launch. Yay!! Their return is dramatized within the compelling new music video for Headless Angel — a music that was launched all the best way again in Could of final 12 months.

ReoNa – Particles

Commonplace J-rock with a superb vocal.

STU48 – Chiheisen wo Miteiruka?

A bit subdued for me.

Vaundy – Run Sakamoto Run

It’s so good to listen to Vaundy deal with one thing extra upbeat and driving once more.

Wild Blue – Our Magic

Simply my least favourite monitor they’ve launched to date. It’s simply sort of forgettable.

ZEROBASEONE – Now Or By no means (music of the week!)

I wrote about this right here. I favored it!

&TEAM – Deer Hunter (music of the week!)

I wrote about this right here. I favored it!

Kentaro Nishida – As soon as Extra (2018)

I’m a giant fan of Kentaro Nishida’s manufacturing fashion. He additionally has an important ear for a melody. That is considered one of my favourite tracks from his super-solid 2019 album. The refrain jogs my memory of elements I like from 90’s J-pop. The melody is so nimble and brilliant. The truth is, that refrain is so good he doesn’t even hassle with a second verse!
